Mileposts were put up by Dartmouth Cross Country team some years ago, marking distances from downtown Lebanon trailhead. Original 1880s granite mileposts in Grafton County are yet to be located. Reward offered.

There are mile markers for the first 5 miles, they're 4x4 posts on the left side of the trail (left if you're heading east away from Lebanon) with a reflective address number stuck to it. The mile 5 post is on the right side of the trail along Mascoma Lake. Mile 6 is shortly after the Main Street crossing in Enfield, Mile 7 is at the bridge that's right after the large dam in Enfield, and that's all I can remember off the top of my head, but you can use gmaps pedometer or map my run to visualize all the mileages if you want to walk further.

Hi rail trail folks!! There was a footbridge connecting Wescott Rd. in Enfield to the rail trail. Could we get that bridge back up? There are several folks who would use it. What would it take to get that bridge back up?

We are interested in helping clean up the rail trail from Apd to West Lebanon. If you were to pick a Wk end and let us know we can post it on our Facebook and get volunteers . Are there any laws or rule that say we cant go and cut brush or clean up on our own?

Thanks kim

Hi Robert, the trail mile markers are a hot topic! The board of directors are looking for the original mile markers as noted in this post http://northernrailtrail.org/trails/mile-marker-found/ however thats not going to help your training.
Lets see, your in Lebanon I took a picture of the trail head marker here is a link that shows the distances to the towns along the way http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/63249353.jpg
hope this helps, train hard!

Best, Jim

I was wondering if there are mile markers on the trail? I live in Lebanon, and I´m training to walk the Camino de Santiago this summer. I am looking for markers to tell me when I´ve walked 5-10 miles so I can turn around.

If not, do you know how far the towns are from each other?

Thank you

A original Northern Railroad mile marker has been found! Acting on a tip, a visit to the old Lebanon public works sheds off Spenser St. turned up one of the seven foot-long granite mile posts set out by the original Northern RR c. 1900. Marked "C 130", the post had gone unnoticed among a dump pile of curbing and broken chunks of stone. Now to find out where it came from, since the marking suggests that it would have been near the Canaan/Enfield town line - 130 miles from Boston. Got any ideas?
