I was wondering if there are mile markers on the trail? I live in Lebanon, and I´m training to walk the Camino de Santiago this summer. I am looking for markers to tell me when I´ve walked 5-10 miles so I can turn around.
If not, do you know how far the towns are from each other?
Hi Robert, the trail mile markers are a hot topic! The board of directors are looking for the original mile markers as noted in this post http://northernrailtrail.org/trails/mile-marker-found/ however thats not going to help your training.
Lets see, your in Lebanon I took a picture of the trail head marker here is a link that shows the distances to the towns along the way http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/63249353.jpg
hope this helps, train hard!
There are mile markers for the first 5 miles, they’re 4×4 posts on the left side of the trail (left if you’re heading east away from Lebanon) with a reflective address number stuck to it. The mile 5 post is on the right side of the trail along Mascoma Lake. Mile 6 is shortly after the Main Street crossing in Enfield, Mile 7 is at the bridge that’s right after the large dam in Enfield, and that’s all I can remember off the top of my head, but you can use gmaps pedometer or map my run to visualize all the mileages if you want to walk further.
Mileposts were put up by Dartmouth Cross Country team some years ago, marking distances from downtown Lebanon trailhead. Original 1880s granite mileposts in Grafton County are yet to be located. Reward offered.
